Oxford Sling Meet hosts Introduction to Babywearing workshops led by qualified babywearing consultants, for pregnant women, parents with newborns, and anyone new to babywearing. The workshops will provide information on the range of slings available, the benefits of babywearing for babies and parents, and safety guidelines. The consultants will assist participants in the group with learning two carries suitable for young babies, practising initially with demonstration dolls before trying the carry with their own babies. There will be a chance to discuss any specific questions or individual circumstances with the consultants at the end of the workshop. There will also be an opportunity to hire a sling (slings will need to be returned to the workshop leader’s home).
All the babywearing consultants leading our workshops have a recognised qualification in babywearing consultancy, current insurance, and membership of the British Association of Babywearing Instructors. Babywearing consultants receive a fee for their work but Oxford Sling Meet does not seek to profit from these workshops.
Workshops run from 10 – 12 am in Florence Park (East Oxford), details of the venue are given on registration. Access by bus and car is easy, and there is free parking.

Please register in advance for workshops as we have a maximum of 10 places. Email us on osm_admin@yahoogroups.com and let us know your baby’s age or how many weeks pregnant you are, and any particular questions you have or slings/carries you would like to learn.
We take a £5 non-refundable deposit when you book a place, and the balance of the fees is payable at the workshop.
Workshop fee: £15 (this includes free membership of Oxford Sling Meet)
Sling hire: £2 (for 2 weeks’ hire)
Women who attend a workshop when pregnant can attend a second workshop after the birth of their baby for £3 (full fee payable in advance).
